Yugwani the esteemed hindi news weekly that was started way back in 1947 by Prof. Bhagwat Prasad Panthri, Acharya Gopeshwar Kothiyal and Tej Ram Bhatt. Sanjay Kothiyal is the editor of this magazine at present. The role of this news weekly was historic during the agitation against the Tehri king and it played a crucial role in the famed chipko movement.

After the formation of a seprate hill state we decided to publish it in a new formate of a monthly magazine (Hindi). All the prominent writers and thinkers of Uttarakhand are associated with this magazine. As the aspiration of the highlanders are not fulfilled and the issues continues to languish Yugwani continues to fight for the right of common Uttarakhandi.
