Uttarakhand Position - Reality Check
According to government sources the position of Uttarakhand is as in the table compared to other states in India.

Well let us have a reality check to know what is happening at the ground level.
Education –
There is Primary school in my own village, which I visited last month. It has four classes (from std I to IV) with nearly 80students. There is only one teacher in the school and he is ‘Pir - Bawarchi - Khar – Bhisti’. He is teaching all the four classes all-alone. Can anybody tell me how one person can be in four classes simultaneously? And if he is there teaching in four classes, what shall be the standard of education.
Postal Services –
I visited the post office which is nearly 3 km from my house on Tuesday. I found a lock at the door of the post office teasing me. When I asked people around why the post office is closed on a working day, someone informed me that the post master has gone to perform puja in a far off temple where he is going to sacrifice a goat. See the Pic below

Health Services
There are 144 employees in health department posted in my block. A PHC (Primary Health Centre) was opened a few yeas back with great fanfare and a health worker was posted there. She was never seen in the village again and reporting in the Hospital at Tehsil Headquarter. This is the PHC

If you feel that the PHC is closed today and it should be working sometime then you are absolutely wrong. Have a look at the interior of the PHC snapped through the open window and it will tell you the truth.
Forest Services
There is ‘Van Panchayat’ which is supposed to looks after the forests around the villages, manage the jungle property, sell the trees to villagers for construction of houses etc. on need basis judiciously and use the fund thus earned for the welfare of the village. What is actually happening ? The ‘Sirpanch’ of the ‘Van Panchayat’ have grabbed a fine piece of land of van panchayat and constructed a huge house in it.

It appears that figures are from Dehradoon only.
